Core Programs
Sierra Leone's education sector faces significant challenges, including a shortage of qualified teachers and inadequate school infrastructure, directly impacting learning outcomes. The HEAT Inc. CRIDE (pronounced The Ride) program addresses these issues by identifying schools and higher learning institutions in need and enhancing their learning environments. Schools receive essential resources to support students and improve overall educational standards through this initiative.
Young people are the driving force behind lasting change, yet in many rural communities across Sierra Leone, the concept of sustainable development remains unfamiliar. HEAT Inc. is bridging this gap by engaging both in-school and out-of-school youth in innovative, hands-on initiatives directly impacting their communities.
Through mentorship, training, and real-world projects, young people learn about sustainability and lead local initiatives aligned with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This approach empowers them to build partnerships, gain practical experience, and actively contribute to transformative changes.

Climate Change Awareness Climate change is increasingly affecting rural communities in Sierra Leone, with rising instances of heavy rainfall leading to potential flooding. As the country relies heavily on rain-fed agriculture, extreme weather conditions seriously threaten crops, livestock, and food security. Additionally, valuable ecosystems and livelihoods are at risk. The Climate Change Awareness Campaign engages students in higher learning institutions, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to raise awareness in local communities. Through training and advocacy, these students help communities understand climate change's impact and mobilize support from state and non-state actors to address these growing threats.
